Or, thirteen reasons for my mum's parents to make faces at me. Still.

* Top favourite must be the Weasley Wizarding Wheezes's candy corn. Yes, sometimes I even experiment with things like that and you never know what kind of monster it'll turn you into for a few minutes. It's like the every-flavour beans? Just not with flavours.
* Gummy skulls. Even though just about everybody get surprised that bookworm Rose Weasley has a fondness for skulls.
* Gran's pumpkin pie. Sure, it's not candy as such. So what?
* Black-and-white psychedelic swirls. These are kind of new, but I like them. A lot.
* Chocolate frogs, Halloween edition. Made even more of a favourite because of how they don't get sold every year and everything.
* Pumpkin ice pop. Yeah, sometimes it's too cold for them, and still.
* Black licorice laces candy. That one is fun to just... eat. Besides, licorice.
* Tootsie rolls! One of the things that I can eat while reading without much danger to the book or scroll.
* Black milk chocolate lentils - probably just because I can't eat them while reading. They need their own attention, or at least, not if I want the book or scroll to survive without chocolate smudges on it...
* Pixie stix. You can't have any kind of comprehensive list of sugar-high-causing foods without that.
* Gran sometimes makes these heaps of pumpkin-and-apple filled roll-bites. I think just about any of us could stuff ourselves full with them - and she makes just about enough for all of us to be able to!
* Mini peanut butter cups. Because sometimes the chocolate-and-peanut-butter combination just does miracles.
* Anything candy-like that's offered on any of the Weasley-Potter-and-everybody-else-is-family parties. Because really. Bad memories will always need to be chased away!
bookishrose: (Grown: blank)
* It's interesting. It's challenging. Mentally.

* Sometimes, the things we find out can save wizards' and witches' lives, either by means of healing or protection from certain things.

* It allows me to learn things that few people do. Things I wouldn't be able to otherwise.

* It can involve problems across space and time. I love solving problems.

* When I need to, I can get lost in the number of people working here.

* When I want to, or, rather, when I have the accomplishment to, I can get as much recognition as I need.

* There are always more mysteries to explore.

* There are always more places to go explore those mysteries.

* A lot of the time, I can choose whether I have an office job or in-the-field one. And alternate.

* I can occasionally brag about a good one to my family. (Not that I often do, since the mysteries are, well, mysterious, and don't get fully resolved that quickly, but... theoretically I can.)

* There's a lot of reading up to be done! I love research!

* I don't ever get tired of it. I mean, if I get tired of one project, there are enough others so there's always something interesting.

* ... I can literally dig myself into it up to above my head and shut out whatever else I am supposed to be feeling or thinking about. At times... I need that. A lot.

- When I realised that James was having so much fun that even when he got punished, he still liked it better than staying put!
- When those boys had hidden my book before the exam... first year.
- When Mum was berating Scorpius for my mistake, since the aging potion didn't wear out as it should have.
- From the moment Bellatrix Lestrange got a hold on me until... Well, a lot later.
- The day when somebody had exchanged my schedule in the beginning of third year and I showed up for the wrong classes until I realised it. All right, it was two classes only, but I still wished I were someone else. Somebody that wasn't happening to.
- That surprise date that was meant to be a pleasant flight and totally failed because I panicked at the height thing.
- The day I had to go and finally choose what exactly to work as.
- The day when my first cat's first litter of kittens had to be given away. I wanted to be the witch who got them both.
- When Scorpius had that conversation with me... The one when he broke up with me.
- One time when I watched a muggle TV show and somebody was absolutely brilliant on it, answering really difficult questions. I wished I were a person for whom answering the questions right would be enough for things to be right.
- When I learned about Scorpius's marriage
- When I learned about Lily's pregnancy
- Each and every time I see a couple kissing happily, right now. Still.

A.k.a. 13 reasons I sometimes consider the possibility of wishing to avoid visits to some of my older relatives. Because, no matter what Gran thinks, fourth helpings aren't good for everybody.

- Treacle pudding

- Corn on the cob, Weasley spices

- Butterbeer-flavoured ice-cream (the home version is even better than Fortescue's)

- Grilled salmon with that awesome spiced mashed potatoes side...

- Mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich. With home-made bread.

- Grilled chicken

- Roast lamb with mint sauce

- Pumpkin bread

- Lamb pies!

- ... any kind of Gran's pies.

- That chicken soup that I know will be followed by a lot more, and good, food, but I can't ever resist

- Lentils stew

- Dark, bitter chocolate

13 People you think deserve to be slapped upside the head.

Mind you, some of them have been slapped upside the head. Or... worse. Often as not, it may have been Grandmother Molly who did it...
In no particular order.

~ My former boss.
~ The muggle bloke from Dublin who decided he could hit on me while I was getting to a non-removable artifact over there.
~ Said muggle bloke's girlfriend who decided she should be jealous.
~ Uncle Percy. Sometimes.
~ *locked* Matthias Heim. */locked*
~ Any of the males of my family who mention towers. As in, keeping us girls in towers. As if it would ever work!
~ Any of us girls in the family when we behave in a way that makes people think that towers are actually a good idea and that thinking is justified.
~ Anyone who dares say that Padfoot has put on weight.
~ Anyone using the Wizard Wheezes to cause actual, intentional harm.
~ People unwilling to read up on their history and learn from it.
~ Scorpius. Occasionally.
~ Whoever it was that though getting me sloshed for Halloween in my sixth year was going to be funny.

1. Bellatrix Lestrange. Just her face, laughing...
2. My little brother, Hugo, in pain instead of me. He hasn't done anything... please... With time, that started changing to any of my siblings.
3. ... falling off a broom.
4. Forgetting how to read.
5. Seeing the night Scorpius was attacked... without him actually surviving it.
6. Running through an empty house - either home, or uncle Harry's, or the Burrow, and trying to find everyone... anyone. And finding noone.
7. The evening when Scorpius told me that we weren't together anymore.
8. Blood all over the Hogwarts hallways, classrooms... and dormitories. Sometimes when I would wake up, the shadows would mirror the stains...
9. Being told I was dead to my family.
10. ... hours and hours on a dentist's chair. I love my mother's parents, but...
11. Having to watch couples kiss, unable to turn away.
12. Having no memory of who I am and who anyone of my family is.
13. Inflicting pain with the same joy that I was hurt, back then.

13 things about your muse (used as your intro):

1. My name is Rose Weasley. Yes, like Weasley Weasley. Red-hair, many children... those Weasley.
2. My mother's Hermione, née Granger, and she's been justly called the brightest witch of her age. Yes, that Hermione Weasley. She now works for the Ministry of Magic, Magical Law Enforcement department, and you'd better not try to mess with their work.
3. My father's Ronald Wealsey. The Auror. Yes, that Ron Weasley.
4. I've been in love with Scorpius Malfoy since we were first year at Hogwarts. Before he was bitten. And that didn't change a thing.
5. I've lived through a war, a wizarding war. I was... so to speak, through some of the worst of it. I don't like recalling that.
6. At twenty-one or so, Scorpius decided that... things between us shouldn't... We were separated, though I still had hopes, when he went to Fiji and married my cousin Lily. I thought I couldn't ever forgive that, for a while. I was wrong.
7. I was angry when I learned that Lily was pregnant and Scorpius had ran away on her. It wasn't fair to ... anyone.
8. After the news about the baby sunk in, I took a break and travelled around the world, blind. As in, never knowing when I was going next. It ... helped a very little bit.
9. I am still trying to put my life back together.
10. I work for the Ministry of Magic, Department of Mystries.
11. I love reading.
12. I am a witch. I was a Ravenclaw at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
13. I do have a huge family. And I love and respect each and every one of them. Yes, even uncle Percy.

bookishrose: (Grown: dark)

I am... very much surprised at what you've done.
Honsetly... )

Rose sealed the parchment and addressed it just with Scorpius' names, hoping that the owl would find him somehow, the way she'd heard stories that uncle Harry's owl had found his godfather when he had been in hiding.
She looked at the letter a moment longer, wondering whether it wasn't absolutely idiotic to write and send it; not sure even if it would ever reach him, addressed so.

But she had been used to the two of them hearing from each other regularly, and she missed it. Whenever something happened, they could always owl one another. And just because of ... everything, and just because it was him she was angry with - didn't mean SHE had to stop communication, did it?
bookishrose: (Grown: unhappy b/w)
Days passed and there was no answer from Scorpius, and the words of his owl kept replaying in Rose's mind.
She didn't think if she wrote to him again he'd answer. That left another person she could try to ask. So before she got to work, she quilled a letter to her cousin.

I am sorry to bother you if it's not a good time, but Scorpius owled me days back, and then he didn't reply to my return owl. And he wrote something that got me worried - for you. He wrote that I've escaped less scathed by him than you.

Please let me know, are you all right? Has something more happened?

Hope your day is nice,

Speaking without thinking - makes things worse.

I'm a Ravenclaw, for Merlin's sake! I should have known that!
